Qld biosecurity regulation review
The new Queensland Biosecurity Act and its Regulation and Guideline will be in force by July 1, 2016.
In October 2014 Biosecurity Queensland released a Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) outlining options for a review of biosecurity regulation for industries including bananas.
Comment on the RIS was accepted up until November 21.
The Australian Banana Growers’ Council (ABGC) encouraged growers and industry partners to participate in the review process to have their say on options including changes to:
- leaf spot regulation
- quarantine zones
- backyard plantings
- fees for biosecurity services.
