Celebrity guests to celebrate Banana Industry Congress 2017

Comedian Anh Do and acclaimed chef/restauranteur Peter Kuruvita will be among a host of special guests appearing at the Australian Banana Industry’s largest national conference in Sydney, 2017.

The Australian Banana Growers’ Council (ABGC) has revealed preparations for the Australian Banana Industry Congress are gaining momentum, with the two celebrities confirmed as speakers at the premier industry event.

The Congress is the largest gathering of Australian banana growers, industry partners and worldleading scientists, researchers and innovators, meeting for three days to share ideas and plot the course of future industry development.

The event will be held from June 22-24, 2017 at the Sheraton on the Park, located in Sydney’s CBD.

“We’re certainly building an incredible list of speakers, both banana-focused and more broadly, those with expertise in the various themes of the Congress for next year,” ABGC Communications Manager, Paula Doran said.

“Anh Do will be a special guest at the Friday night dinner, held on June 23, which is always a highlight of the program,” Ms Doran said.

“Mr Do is a well-known comedian, author, actor and artist. Most recently he appeared in the popular new ABC television series “Anh’s Brush with Fame”, in which he interviews a number of Australian celebrities while painting their portrait.”

The ABGC is excited to confirm award-winning Australian chef, restauranteur, television presenter and author – Peter Kuruvita – also joins the celebrity guest list.

“Mr Kuruvita is celebrated for his signature style, cooking with fresh quality seafood and is widely known for his time as Executive Chef at Sydney’s Flying Fish Restaurant and Bar for eight years.
As well as owning restaurants, he has hosted three television series on SBS and written two cookbooks.

“Both celebrities will be included in a high quality speakers program at the Australian Banana Industry Congress, which is an opportunity for growers to learn the latest research and developments on a broad range of topics that impact their industry,” Ms Doran said.

The 2017 Congress will include site visits to learn the latest trends in supply chain and retail, an industry exhibit, awards night and Banana Industry Ball.
