Weather alert downgraded for NQ

The Bureau of Meteorology (the Bureau) has downgraded a weather alert issued earlier this week for North Queensland banana growing areas. New advice is as follows, current for Wednesday (19 October 2022):

• Thunderstorms are possible over inland parts of northern QLD this afternoon, including the Atherton Tablelands and Lakeland areas. There is a risk of wind gusts in excess of 50 km/h with these storms.
• There is a risk of wind gusts in excess of 50 km/h across northern QLD banana growing areas on Thursday, Friday and Saturday due to thunderstorm activity.
• Due to the isolated nature of thunderstorms, gusty winds may occur in some areas while other nearby locations remain unaffected.
