Minimum Wages Increase from 1 July 2026

Minimum Wages Increase from 1 July 2026

The Fair Work Ombudsman has announced increases to the National Minimum Wage and minimum award wages following the Fair Work Commission’s Annual Wage Review decision. The new rates will take effect from 1 July 2026 and apply across a range of industries, including horticulture businesses and employees covered by relevant modern awards.

While ABGC recognises the importance of ensuring agricultural workers receive fair and competitive wages, we are also mindful that many growers are continuing to navigate a challenging operating environment. Rising input costs, labour expenses, market pressures and shortage of fuel and fertilisers are placing significant strain on farm businesses across the country.

As a member of the National Farmers’ Federation’s (NFF) Horticulture Council, ABGC supports the NFF’s response to the decision.

The NFF noted that while wage increases play an important role in supporting rural and regional workforces, many farm businesses are simultaneously managing rising operational costs, labour shortages and increasingly tight margins.

ABGC understands that changes such as these can add further pressure to business planning and budgeting. ABGC encourage members to familiarise themselves with the updated wage rates and assess any impacts on their workforce arrangements ahead of 1 July 2026.
