If you send bananas to markets in other Australian states, it’s important that your packages are labelled correctly. Good labelling helps your product move smoothly through the supply chain and can prevent delays, extra costs, or compliance issues.

Please make sure all banana packages:

• Can be clearly seen on the outside of the carton – not on the underside.
• Are easy to read and not covered, faded or smudged.
• Stay attached and readable throughout transport and handling.

If your ICA procedure requires bananas to be identified after they leave your property, your packages must also include:

• Product identification
• Clear markings that are visible, easy to read and permanent. The lettering must be at least 5 mm high and show that the bananas meet the relevant ICA procedure.
• Traceability information
• A consignment code or date code so the bananas can be traced if needed.
• Business details
• The name and physical address of the accredited business, and/or the business’s Interstate Produce (IP) number.
