The permit allowing banana growers to use chlorpyrifos (e.g. Strikeout) mixed with talc to control bunch pests has been extended until 31 July 2024, pending the outcome of an ongoing review.

The permit (PER1420) was due to expire in September this year.

Please note however, that all Chlorpyrifos products are currently still under review by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority, with a decision expected later in 2022. So this permit is subject to the outcomes of this review.
