Strike-Out WP update

The Australian Banana Growers’ Council (ABGC) today received an announcement from Adama, that they are halting any further production of Strike-Out WP (active ingredient Chlorpyrifos). 

As you are aware, chlorpyrifos is currently under review by the APVMA for all current registrations, and it is expected that many of these registrations may be immediately suspended or phased out over the next 12 months once the review is completed. The outcome of this review is due November/December this year.

The reasons given by Adama for halting production are:

• The uncertain future of chlorpyrifos 
• Some manufacturing upgrades required to produce Strike-Out WP

Adama advises they have stock on hand that they will be offering to customers to fill forecast and current orders, but they cannot guarantee that they will meet all requirements. 

ABGC advises growers they should contact their chemical suppliers for further information.

Adama intends to review the future of Strike0Out WP once the APVMA review is complete and will communicate their decision once this is known.
