PURPOSE OF YOUR ROLE:
To detect Banana Bunchy Top and assist with the destruction of infected plants.
HOW HAS YOUR ROLE HAD IMPACT FOR GROWERS?
Being able to speak Punjabi, I have connected with Punjabi/Indian growers in Northern NSW) and share, educate and obtain their understanding of the Bunchy Top disease. I have been able to improve bio-security in the Australian Banana Industry. Overall, developing relationships with growers and the public assists in maintaining biosecurity.
YOUR BACKGROUND:
I have experience of 10 years in growing bananas – different varieties and have now been a Bunchy Top inspector for 2.5 years.
