A new round of the Australian Government’s On Farm Connectivity Program is now open, with $10 million available to help eligible primary producers purchase connected farm equipment and technology.

The program provides rebates of between $1,000 and $20,000 (excluding GST) towards eligible purchases made through an approved supplier.

For banana growers, this could include eligible connected machinery, sensors and other technology that helps monitor or manage farm operations.

Priority will be given to primary producers who have not received funding through an earlier round of the program.

Applications close 15 October 2026.

The program website has a list of eligible equipment and approved suppliers, along with the grant guidelines and information to help growers work out whether their proposed purchase is eligible.

How to apply

Primary Producers will need to follow these steps to apply for Round 3.

1. Read the Grant Opportunity Guidelines on the Business Grants Hub’s website and check eligibility.
2. Consider what connectivity or ag-tech equipment the primary production business needs.
3. Review the Round 3 List of Approved Suppliers and each supplier’s Final List of Eligible Equipment, including prices as shown in the equipment categories below.
4. Primary Producers should carefully choose an Approved Supplier that best suits their business by considering factors such as a supplier’s experience, Australian-based technical and sales support, local installation and follow-up services, and customer reviews or recommendations.
5. Primary Producers should also take time to compare their options and consider:
   – what equipment or technology will best support their business
   – which Approved Suppliers offer suitable products
   – the price and value of different options
   – what support may be available before and after purchase
   – whether the quote and application process are clear.
6. Contact a Round 3 Approved Supplier to discuss equipment needs and request a quote.
7. Work with the selected Approved Supplier to submit an application (the supplier will do this for Primary Producers). Primary Producers will then need to complete their part of the application.
8. If the application is approved, Primary Producers will pay for their equipment and confirm once they have received it.

Do not purchase equipment before the application is approved, or it will not be eligible for a rebate. Quotes generated before Round 3 opens will also not be accepted.
