Water quality regulations and strategies

The  ABGC Water Quality Strategy 2017-2020 for the North Queensland banana industry focuses on extension and working with growers to help them improve their adoption of sustainable nutrient and sediment management practices. The strategy is part of a broader effort to improve the quality of water flowing into catchments around the Great Barrier Reef.
Wet Tropics Water Quality Improvement Plan 2015-2020. Lead agency Terrain NRM develops this plan every five years. The plan aims to better manage our waterways to ensure they remain healthy for the future.
Reef Report Cards. The Reef Water Quality Report Card 2017 and 2018 is publicly available. Learn how the banana industry performs compared to other industries in Reef catchments.
2017 Scientific Consensus Statement for the Great Barrier Reef. This review looked at  significant advances in scientific knowledge of water quality issues in the Great Barrier Reef to arrive at a consensus on the current understanding of the system.
Wet Tropics Major Integrated ProjectThis project is led by Terrain NRM with on-ground activities/projects in the Tully and Johnstone Catchments.
The Reef 2050 Water Quality Improvement Plan 2017-2022 guides how industry, government and the community will work together to improve the quality of water flowing to the Great Barrier Reef.
